Architecture for children, youth and adults - workshops, books, courses, and education

EXHIBITION / curated by My Little Architect

My Little Architect is curating the exhibition Home sweet Home. From Denmark to Poland. A story about Danish children’s vision of a home as well as the physical items characterizing a home. The exhibition includes workshops in which Polish children are invited to design and build their vision of a home which afterwards will be included in the exhibition.

The exhibition shows some of the items which many Danish children associate with the physical settings of their home. The iconic design items have been selected by My Little Architect based on a research with school children from different age groups.

The children were asked which items are important for them in their homes, and for the majority of the children and a common theme in their answers was design items which you can enjoy and use together as a family or as a group of friends e.g. having meals together or playing together.

The exhibition allows children (and adults) to touch the design icons and experience the stories behind them, e.g. Kay Bojesen’s The Monkey, Nanna Ditzel’s Trissen and the sun cell driven lamp Little Sun designed by Olafur Eliasson and Frederik Ottesen.

In addition to the design icons, the exhibition consists of architecture models of homes, built by Danish school children, quotes and photos of the children’s own homes as well as a hand-on activity.

My Little Architect will be hosting workshops for children as well as a seminar for educators in Concordia Design Centre in connection with the exhibition.
